Empowering the Visually Impaired for Higher Education
AIFL in partnership with
HTBF (Help the Blind
Foundation) is
supporting 25 Visually
Impaired students for
higher education,
to empower them with
necessary scholarships,
employability skills,
accessories such as
laptops and Smart Vision
glasses.
Selected beneficiaries
are those enrolled in
Dr. Shakuntala Misra
National Rehabilitation
University in Lucknow,
Uttar Pradesh.
Our partner HTBF is a
pioneer in empowering
Visually Impaired
students for higher
education, and their
skill development
programs
are best in class. The
students are under
selection through a
rigid
online process,
scrutinized, followed by
personal interviews.
The selected students
will be periodically
evaluated for
attendance,
progress and assessed
through tests. The
outcome expected is
to mould the selected
students into more
competent ones, with
greater confidence,
communication, computer
and soft skills,
enabling
them to find better
quality jobs in the
market with good
institutions, and on par
with the sighted
students.
Smart Vision glass is an
innovative Artificial
Intelligence (AI)
based wearable device
which can help the
visually impaired read,
navigate, recognize
objects and people

AIFL is empowering women's wellness through two CSR programs
AI based mass cervical and breast cancer screening of women in Andhra Pradesh
AIFL is supporting a groundbreaking initiative led by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, aimed at early detection and prevention of cervical and breast cancer among women. The program uses AI-enabled, cloud-connected portable devices to screen over 12,000 women across six districts, focusing on vulnerable populations such as HIV+ patients and female sex workers. In partnership with APSACS, Rotary Foundation, and Genworks, this initiative ensures timely diagnosis and treatment for pre-cancerous and cancerous conditions, setting a potential model for other states.

Menstrual Hygiene Program for underprivileged adolescent school girls in and around Mumbai
AIFL, in collaboration with SOSVA, is working to improve menstrual hygiene for around 2,500 adolescent girls from underserved schools in and around Mumbai. The program includes educational sessions conducted by doctors and volunteers, aiming to break taboos, clear misconceptions, and promote safe hygiene practices. Girls are provided with sanitary napkins for three months, and meals are distributed during the sessions. Pre- and post-assessment surveys are conducted to measure the program’s impact, building confidence and fostering open conversations about menstrual health.

Empowering the Visually Impaired for Higher Education
AIFL co-sponsors the iRASTE
(Intelligent Solutions for Road
Safety through
Technology & Engineering)
initiative,
an AI-driven project focused on
reducing road accidents in
India. In
partnership with INAI @ IIIT
Hyderabad,
iRASTE uses a four-pronged
approach—vehicle safety,
mobility analysis,
infrastructure safety, and
driver training.
AI-enabled Advanced Driver
Assistance Systems (ADAS) and
driver monitoring
technology provide real-time
alerts to
prevent collisions, improve
driving behavior, and enhance
road
safety.
The initiative targets highways,
which represent just 5% of
India’s roads
but account for 55% of
accidents. Around
200 TSRTC buses are equipped
with collision warning sensors,
logging data
from near-miss incidents. This
data is used
to identify accident-prone
"grey spots," enabling focused
interventions with
the help of the Central Road
Research Institute.
Key outcomes
include:
- Reduction in highway crashes through AI-driven prevention measures like collision avoidance tech, driver training, and identifying black spots.
- Publishing India's first dynamic Road Safety Index and Road Quality Index.
- Creating a blueprint for using AI to meet India's road safety goals.
- This project is a significant step towards safer highways, with data showing improved driving behavior and reduced accident risks.

Supporting Youth Leadership Development and Social Change Makers
Society has problems like poverty, malnutrition, unemployment, lack of quality education, food and water scarcity, global warming, etc. which are waiting to be solved. NIRMAN aims to create a large group of young professionals having the desire and the capability to understand and solve the burning social problems. It plans to achieve this by developing an educational process which will facilitate a deeper search of these youth for leading a purposeful life. NIRMAN believes that such a pursuit of social problem solving will bring out the best in those individuals.

AIFL is currently supporting this “NIRMAN” program initiated by our partner agency SEARCH (Society for Education, Action and Research in Community Health) in 2006, with an aim is to create a large group of young professionals intending and capable of solving social problems. This initiative is a continuously evolving process of problem-based experiential learning and identification of self through it. Every year, this NIRMAN program invites applications from the youth across India from diverse academic backgrounds and interests. AIFL is ensuring contribution for this program in the current year 2023-24, wherein workshops will be conducted for selected youth, Publicity, Outreach and Selection will be conducted, Learning & Volunteering Activities will be organised, Fellowships supported, and Capacity Building of the team will be undertaken.

Empowering underprivileged children - Junoon
AIFL, in collaboration with the Junoon Foundation, is supporting the establishment of a new centre in the suburbs of Mumbai at Saidham, Thakur Complex, aimed at providing education and holistic development for 25 underprivileged children who are currently out of school due to socio-economic barriers. The centre offers daily academic classes to bridge learning gaps and help the children excel, alongside nutritious meals to ensure proper cognitive and physical development. Health check-ups and medical aid are regularly provided, ensuring the children are in good health to learn and thrive.

The initiative also
extends support to
families by providing
essential groceries,
reducing financial
burdens, and helping
with
documentation
to enroll their children
in government schools.
This program
facilitates smooth
transitions into formal
education and continues
to offer support
to the children
throughout the process.
Field trips,
extracurricular
activities, and events
are organized to
expose the children to
experiences beyond the
classroom, nurturing
their
social, emotional, and
intellectual growth.
This comprehensive
approach prepares the
children to excel in all
areas of life,
helping them move
toward a brighter and
more stable future.
